Ford Fusion rich media


We get it. The use of video in advertising is almost always preferable to static fare. Especially when you’re selling a sexy vehicle. But even video can be boring, right? It’s quickly become THE thing…not just A thing. So where does one go from there?

Well, we asked ourselves the same question in 2009 when Creative Set was asked to help promote the newest Ford Fusion. Our solution was to make the video a bit more mysterious…interactive…interesting. In tandem, Ford wanted to show off a few special Fusion features which made the Hybrid + Sport models stand out from the crowd. So…

Cue our glowing balls!

Each video was overlaid with orbs that, when moused-over, paused the video and offered up more info on the vehicle feature each orb was meant to highlight. The result? General interaction + CTR numbers were through the roof. Videos were watched multiple times. Appetites were whetted. And the Fusion happened to net Ford some record sales in 2010. Go figure.
